With more than four decades of executive leadership experience, Dr. Jai N. Gupta served as founder and president of EER Systems, Inc., and provided US military and federal agency partners with assistance in scientific systems development. Dr. Jai N. Gupta presently heads Centerline Biomedical, a Cleveland Clinic affiliate focused on commercialization efforts in the endovascular navigation sphere.
In May, Dr. Gupta’s firm announced the successful completion of an initial preclinical study at the Lerner Research Institute that assesses its core Input/Output Operations Per Second
(IOPS) technology. At present, stenting and other endovascular surgeries employ X-ray fluoroscopy, which is an exposure route for radiation that causes cancer. In addition, this form of imaging only produces 2-D visuals, on a limited scale, which makes positioning and navigation difficult.
The IOPS system solves this through a 3-D, GPS-like display, which is easily able to provide visualization of guidewires and catheters, and navigation of the arteries. Dr. Gupta has spoken of this innovative approach to medicine as providing a positive impact on caregivers and patients.
